Oh my gosh. Almost a whole month without a post (but over here, my capstone blog gets updated once a week).

In other news: this summer, I’ll be abroad for a month in the Netherlands and Belgium in a last-ditch study abroad with my drawing professor. Then, I’ll be coming back and shipping off to Tulsa to work as a design intern at theĀ Tulsa World for several month. Then, who knows?

Until then, I’ll be …. sewing.

I promise that the facial expression is part of the concept and not something I do normally (unless I’m in denial). I’ve been altering and embellishing this jumper for my fibers course. Eventually I am going to create a whole series of altered garments that more accurately display the desires of the person who might choose to wear them. Usually these desires are ridiculous, silly, or really quite funny.

This is my kitchen. On the far right you can see a photo of my brother and immediately to the right of my hand, a photo of me hugging an alligator (am I serious or joking?) in Honduras.

don’t believe in you

You might have been wondering what I was for Halloween. Or you might not have. Either way, you’re about to find out.

Those above the age of 25 probably don’t find this cool at all. But it was, in fact, a pretty big undertaking. In a desperate effort to once again be a Fibers Artist, I cut and hemmed the Team Rocket shirts myself.

Forgive me, cosplayers of the world, for they might not be fully accurate. While I was working, someone informed me that we could have screen-printed the logo much easier than it was for me to attempt and fail to sew them on (I went for the Walmart off-brand of WonderUnder iron-on afterwards), but I really like the look and feel of applique.

An in-progress shot before the ‘R’s were affixed.

We took a lot of these “Japan desu!” cosplay style shots. Thanks to Kayla Huett for this last photo!

Harold looks like a large turnip but I love him. A lot. First large sewing project of my own.
