It’s nearing the end of the semester, which means I am more hurried and full of feelings than ever.
THAN EVER.
In times such as these, I listen to this song.
“your true self has become weak, alone and annoying.”
A waitress wished me a belated happy birthday last night, so I feel it is still appropriate to mention I had one the other week (the 23rd of September).
It was marked by mustaches (Xiu Xiu, my face) and the state of illinois.
a want is a lack
For about a week, all I could think about was this band and Hot Chip and the dancing man and how I just needed, needed to find out how he moves the way he does. This week I am more in control of myself but still sometimes can’t resist the temptation to just DO IT
EVERYBODY’S DOING IT
The CD just came in the mail. Nonstop since Thursday. Buy it.
leeann LOVES jukebox
Last week in STL I got to see Jukebox the Ghost for the first time in three years! I love them. Duh. The guys are great and are keeping a LOVE/HATE blog that you should all read, follow and get a real kick out of.
you know us
I am really stuck on Interpol’s “Barricade” because its just such a fabulous return to the way things should be. Our Love To Admire made me cry just a bit. The world is looking up.
Clearly I love it because I went through the trouble to pull dinky little screencaps, duh. The whole video is fantastic but the shots with Paul are my favorites.
DJ!
This video takes me back YEARS. Biiiiig source of inspiration for me all the way up to today!
they say an end can be a start
When I heard those words Wednesday night I swear I just about died. “If I ever feel better” is about my favorite song in the history of the world. I wrote a note to the band and asked them to play it, never got a chance to give it to them but THEY PLAYED IT ANYWAYS.
So yes. I saw Phoenix in KCMO at the Uptown Theatre on Wednesday. That’s the factual info here. Let these photos illustrate where I was in the crowd.
This man is also my favorite security guard ever.
after all – sondre lerche w/ jbm
Sondre Lerche w/ JBM, Feb. 16 at the Record Bar in Kansas City, Mo.
This was my second time seeing Sondre in concert and arguably even better than the first – the Record Bar is a fantastic, tiny little place where you can sit and really get up close and personal with the artist performing. I wasn’t too worried about the quality of the photos I was getting because sitting there and enjoying the show was just much too important. I also shot some surprisingly quality video, which I’ll post soon. An amazing evening and definitely worth the drive out from Columbia.
Both Sondre and JBM have sessions up at Daytrotter, do yourself a favor and download those. Sondre has been one of my favorite artists for years and finally seeing him live my freshman year was amazing. I hope I can at least see him once for each year I’m in college .
